WE PUSH: A Night of Courage, Community, and a Collective Call for Inclusion

Yesterday, the HAPI team stood among changemakers and advocates from across Africa at the Africa Films for Impact Festival (AFFIF) for the screening of “WE PUSH – For a World Without Barriers.”
This powerful documentary shares the remarkable story of Alex Munyambabazi, a Ugandan amputee who transformed personal tragedy into a movement for dignity, inclusion, and disability rights. But the film wasn’t just an emotional experience — it was a wake-up call.
A Story That Holds Up a Mirror
“WE PUSH” forces you to confront the truth: resilience isn’t about having an easy life — it’s the choice to rise, rebuild, and reclaim your voice.
As we watched Alex navigate loss, discrimination, innovation, and ultimately leadership, the HAPI team saw reflections of our own mission. The film reframed our work — not just as advocacy, but as a shared journey toward a world without barriers.
Collaboration That Sparks Change
Beyond Alex’s personal story, the documentary highlighted the transformative collaboration among ETH Zurich, Circleg, and the Amputee Self-Help Network Uganda. Together, they showed what is possible when communities, innovators, and persons with disabilities push in the same direction.
Their partnership isn’t symbolic — it’s proof that inclusion becomes real when we design, create, and advocate with persons with disabilities, not for them.
Leaving the Cinema Recharged
We walked out of that theatre inspired, grounded, and fired up. WE PUSH renewed our belief that a barrier-free world is not a dream — it’s a mission we’re already on.
And at HAPI, we’re committed to pushing harder, louder, and smarter until every ability, every voice, and every dream finds its rightful place in an inclusive world.
