Hope Alive and Nasarawa State Disability Rights Commission Explore Collaboration on Disability Inclusion and Empowerment in Nigeria

On August 18, 2025, Hope Alive for Possibilities Initiative (HAPI) hosted Saleh Barde Keana, the Chairman of Nasarawa State Disability Rights Commission, with his team, for a powerful discussion on advancing disability rights in Nigeria.
He applauded HAPI for the ongoing projects on the Domestication of the Disability Rights Law in Benue State and the Menstrual Health Hygiene for women and girls with disabilities.
We discussed collaboration opportunities centered on entrepreneurship and education for persons with disabilities, ensuring they have not only academic qualifications but also practical skills for sustainable livelihoods. Both parties agreed on the need for sustainable systems and capacity building, rather than one-off support. We also talked about strengthening the participation of persons with disabilities in governance and democratic processes. The meeting ended with optimism and a strong commitment to work together in amplifying disability inclusion and rights in Nasarawa State.
