🩸 Empowering Girls with Disabilities: Celebrating Menstrual Hygiene Day! 🌸

Menstruation is a natural and significant part of life for over 1.8 billion girls and women worldwide. However, it is disheartening to acknowledge that many girls particularly those with disabilities, are deprived of their rights to manage their monthly cycles in a dignified and healthy way. To Celebrate Menstrual hygiene Day, Hope Alive for Possibilities Initiative(HAPI) collaborated with several organizations to empower girls with disabilities at the school for the blind Jabi, FCT -Abuja.

(1) RUBIES DEVELOPMENT FOUNDATION,

(2) WOMEN AND GIRLS WITH ALBINISM NETWORK,

(3) PRIME DIAMOND INITIATIVE FOR COMMUNITY HEALTH (PDICH), INCLUSIVE, and

(4) VOICE FOR WOMEN AND YOUTH INITIATIVE joined forces to execute an inspiring intersession at the School of the Blind in Jabi, FCT Abuja.

During the session, we focused on sensitizing the students about managing their menstruation with personal hygiene practices and distributing sanitary pads to ensure their comfort and well-being. It was a decisive moment of solidarity, as we firmly believe in leaving no one behind. As the saying goes, “Nothing about us, without us.”

Inclusivity is at the core of our efforts. We recognize the unique challenges faced by girls and women with disabilities when it comes to managing menstruation. By raising awareness and providing necessary resources, we aim to bridge the gap and empower every girl with disability.

Our collaboration emphasizes the power of collective action in creating positive change. Together, we strive to amplify the voices of girls and women, promoting inclusivity for all. We envision a world where every girl with disability can experience menstruation with dignity, respect, and good health.

Join us in celebrating Menstruation Day and spreading the message of empowerment and inclusivity. Together, we can break the barriers and ensure that every girl, regardless of her disabilities, can manage her menstrual cycle with pride and confidence. Let’s make this post a platform for engagement and discussion, as we work towards a more inclusive and equitable future for all. 💪💙🌍
