A DAY SOUTH WEST ZONAL TOWN HALL MEETING ON ACCESS TO EMPLOYMENT FOR PERSONS WITH DISABILITIES

The National Commission for Persons with Disabilities, in collaboration with the Law and Anti-Corruption Program (RoLAC) and Sight Savers Nigeria, recently organized a one-day zonal town hall meeting on access to employment for persons with disabilities. The event took place in the southwestern region of Nigeria and was attended by disability-focused organizations and civil society organizations, as well as members of the media.

The aim of the program was to explore ways to improve the lives of persons with disabilities, with a particular focus on employment as a critical factor in enhancing their quality of life in Nigeria. The theme of the event, “Employment for a Better Life for Persons with Disabilities in Nigeria,” highlighted the importance of employment opportunities in enabling persons with disabilities to live independently, contribute to society, and access a higher standard of living.

During the event, participants engaged in robust discussions on the challenges faced by persons with disabilities in accessing employment opportunities in Nigeria. They also discussed potential solutions to these challenges and explored strategies to increase access to job opportunities for persons with disabilities.

Various speakers highlighted the importance of creating an enabling environment for persons with disabilities to thrive and contribute to society.
